Made With Pride

  •  Made With Pride In Duncanville - February Honorees

     

     

     Teacher

     

     

    Lamont Taylor, a music teacher at Alexander, is the Made With Pride in Duncanville – Teacher selection for the month of February. Mr. Taylor was nominated by Eduardo Gonzalez.

      Mr. Taylor created an elementary drum line consisting of third and fourth graders. Beyond teaching music Mr. Taylor teaches students about teamwork, collaboration, and having good character. The drum line at Alexander has become a "big deal" around campus and the students take their role seriously. The Alexander drum line recently participated in the Duncanville Christmas parade and were given the honor to be first in line and lead it. What looked like a small group of kids marching with play drums sounded like a high school marching band all to thanks to Mr. Taylor.  Students at Alexander Elementary always look forward to going music class because of the engaging lessons Mr. Taylor provides. He is a great mentor to students and is a work colleague everybody enjoys being around.

     

    Staff

     

    Maria Posada, formerly in Student Services, is the Made With Pride in Duncanville – Staff selection for the month of February. Ms. Posada was nominated by Ed Marcell.

       Maria is consistently kind, compassionate, and respectful of the students, parents, and district staff members who come to Student Services for assistance. Parents and staff are consistently appreciative of her compassionate and efficient manner.  She put in extra effort to help families enroll their students as we transitioned to Skyward this fall.

     

    Student

     

    Chanciss Wesson, is the Made With Pride in Duncanville – Student selection for the month of February. She was nominated by her principal, Tia Simmons.

      Chanciss has maintained an “A” average for the semester while at the same time being an active member of the DHS volleyball team. She leads by example, and many people in her class find her enthusiasm and dedication both inspiring and motivating. She has come a long way from a kid who was in constant trouble to a young lady who works hard and is willing to help.  Chanciss was a manager for the volleyball program for the last three years.  She has served the program in many aspect, as the loudest supporter on the bench, to physically participating in practice to volunteering with the middle school players.  Chanciss is a diligent student and has participated in the school’s mentoring program for the last two years.  She has grown into a responsible young lady who gives back to the people and community around her.
