Made With Pride

  •  Made With Pride Honorees for November 2017

Larry Moore -Teacher – Brandenburg Intermediate

    • Dedicated to teaching the students at Brandenburg to excel at their artistic endeavors.
    • Brandenburg has won first place repeatedly at district sponsored contests.
    • Holan said she nominated Mr. Moore because he graciously gives of his time and talent to provide banners and murals for teachers and programs whenever he is asked.
    • He stays after hours and even comes in on his day off of work to see to it that murals are complete.
    • He generally spends between 10 and 30 hours completing murals for programs on top of his regular teaching duties.
    • He does this cheerfully!

Joe McMillian - Staff – Hastings Elementary

    • McMillian has been Behavior Unit Aide at Hastings Elementary for eight years.
    • Even though his role is to assist with the needs of our most challenging students, he goes above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis.
    • Every morning, you will find him greeting students and families at the crosswalk with the biggest smile and the warmest good morning.
    • Throughout the day, you will find him counseling students, managing the cafeteria, helping teachers, bus duty, driving a bus and any other tasks he is asked to do – without ANY
    • Mac has such a heart for children, that he started his own Basketball Club for Hastings 4th and 5th grade students where he stayed after school and on weekends on his own time to work with students on not only the techniques of basketball, but also how to be an outstanding athlete off the court.
    • This was such a success, that he has continued the basketball program, but has since also started a Volleyball Club for 3rd and 4th Grade girls where once again he stays after school on a daily basis to coach students.

Faith Lemelle - Student (11th grade) - Duncanville High School

    • Faith is a recent transferred to Duncanville from a nearby school district (Cedar Hill).
    • In her relatively short time here, she has already been elected as Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) president and is doing a great job getting more students interested in FCA.
    • She believes in reaching out to others to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
    • Last week, she brought Vernon King, a graduate from 2009, to the school to give a motivational speech about leadership and stepping out of your comfort zone to do the right thing.

I believe this is just the beginning, and we’ll continue to see Faith do great things here in Duncanville High School and throughout the community
